Harley-Davidson is exploring the possibility that work done at its Springettsbury Township plant could be done less expensively at another U.S. location. The company held town hall meetings with local employees Monday, discussing a study that calls for "major changes" to the way the plant works. Harley corporate spokesman Bob Klein said preliminary results of the study, which will be under way for the next several months, show there are "major gaps" in the efficiency of the York operation, and it's not as cost competitive as other similar manufacturing operations.
